A 7-month-old boy died from heat stroke after being taken to a hospital for 24-hour treatment in suburban Detroit.
The boy was brought in to be taken to Children’s Mercy Medical Center in Dearborn after his mother found him unconscious.
“It’s a miracle that we got him out of there,” his grandmother, Debra Mims, told WXYX-TV.
“He’s just like a kid in a box.”
Her grandson was taken to the hospital for a heart check and was declared dead after a short time, Detroit police said.
Mims said the boy was “like a little kid in his little box” and didn’t have a pulse.
“They said he’s probably dead for a few hours,” she said.
A Detroit firefighter was also taken to Mercy Hospital to treat the boy.
A spokesman for Children’s Hospital said the baby was “doing great.”
“We are grateful to have this patient at Children’s,” the spokesman, Chris Schoenfeld, said in a statement.
